welcome to 'strawberry love song', my melting holidays fansite. 'strawberry love song' is the same name as the last song on melting holidays' first album, if you were wondering. this site was made to express my love for this (rather obscure) band and their music, but it's also made for other fans, with lots of information about melting holidays, as well as ways to listen to and download their music. i hope you enjoy!
maybe you're here because you're not already a fan of melting holidays, and you're wondering, 'who are they?'
melting holidays formed in may of 2001, remaining active until after the release of their third album, 'pop go the happy tune', in 2005. i'm currently unsure of the names of all of the members, but the lead singer's name is sasaki shiho. melting holidays were a shibya-kei/retro-pop band, who have been compared to the likes of capsule, just without the overwhelming use of synth, and more of a nostalgic attitude than an optimism for the future---the latter being the more popular choice for shibuya-kei bands active around that time. among other things, melting holidays also incorporated elements of french music and culture into their songs, (another popular choice,) even going so far as to write a good handful of songs in french!
in my opinion, melting holidays' music feels sweet and girly without being too delicate, (which, from my experience, is rather difficult to acheive,) incorporating some more harsh sounds, like brass instruments and distortion effects. despite the noticable flaws in the mastering of their songs, and the strange audio compression present in their first two albums, each and every song of theirs that i've listened to has been a delight.
