Exclusive Trivia!!

'Death Tastes Like Sugar' was technically in production for a very long time; I had started a band with a few of my friends in June or July of 2022, but even though we never even got close to making any music, we planned to compose an album called 'Death Tastes Like Sugar', so I put together an album cover. It's basically the same cover used for this final version of the album, but I changed it from including our band's name to including 'cydthezombie' instead. I think it's funny how different my art style was back then...
The intro and outro messages were inspired by the outro message at the end of 'Strawberry Love Song' by Melting Holidays, which is the last song in their album 'Cherry Wine'. The message is just 'Thank you for listening to our music' and I thought it was very cute, so I chose to do something similar. The outro message is pretty compressed because I used a bad converter (The website I used for the TTS saves stuff as WAVs, so I had to convert them to MP3s).
The name 'Orchestra Of Chainsaws' was a highlight of just how much I had improved at making music since 'Distorted View Of Our Future', being an evolution of 'Choir Of Sawblades'. It contains slightly edited motifs from that song.
'It's Past My Bedtime But I Can't Fall Asleep' was named after a time when... Just that happened to me: I was sad, and couldn't get to sleep, so I talked with my mum for a while before I felt good enough to try sleeping again. The bitcrushed instrument all throughout is meant to signify the feeling of the rain falling on my forehead from my mum's open bedroom window. The entire song is meant to feel sad, but like you're going on a journey to fix that, y'know?
'Imitation Vanilla Essence', 'Drive', and 'Death Tastes Like Sugar' were all very short experiments I did that stayed in my 'work in progress' folder for a very long time. 'Imitation Vanilla Essence' got its name from the metallic but sort of 'goopy' instrument I used, 'Drive' just sounded cool, and 'Death Tastes Like Sugar' was an attempt from around the time my band were talking about making music, so it was a bit of a preview for them (that I never actually showed them).
'Marbles' got its name from my weird synesthesia brain thinking that the first instrument you hear sounded like little blue marbles. My mum helped me with the composition of this song and she taught me some invaluable stuff, and this song ended up as one of my favourites due to her help! I think I concocted said marble-like instrument during the production of 'Sparkling Scribble', and just saved it for later!
'Raining In Autumn' had such a high tempo, and it was really difficult to work with! There's a section in it that's kind of inspired by 'Aquaduct' by Blank Banshee.
'You, Near The Bubbling Stream' got its name from a part in a text-adventure game I was working on for a while. I shared an early version of it made up of just square waves with a friend on Discord, and I've retrieved that version and am planning to use in Static Mosaic sometime soon.
'Procedural Cathedral' was a song name that I had saved for a long time, and I felt like this song was the perfect excuse to use it! I tried to make it scary and urgent, with weird synth choir and organs, all that. Very cool song, another one of my favourites from this album!
'Take Back Control ~ Shining Scales Like Polished Pearls' kinda feels gargantuan, but it's only around three minutes! It was one of my attempts at making something atmospheric and experimental, and it's pretty cool, I think. I had thought of the name 'Shining Skin Like Polished Pearls', then changed 'skin' to 'scales', then I figured that it also singified a journey of 'taking back control', so I just mashed them both together. I like songs with long names :)
'Churning' was another atmospheric attempt. I think I breifly changed its title to 'Forever Changed', but I think I might use that name for a more impactful song later on.
If you though that 'Churning' was spooky, you don't want to listen to 'The Lungs And The Heart Of The Beast'! I came up with the 'Lungs' and 'Heart' parts because the whole song sort of sounds like it's pulsating or breathing, like internal organs. Funnily enough, though, the 'Beast' part came from a character from the game 'Fatum Betula' called 'The Beast', and he's just a pretty friendly guy! The YouTube-upload-exclusive rain segment is made up of two layered recordings of different parts of my room during a storm, one near my window (closed) and one near my bathroom's window (open).
The name 'Afterimage (Act 2 Mix)' is a classic Sonic reference, because I used a lot of retro FM presets for it. I think it's much better than the original.
'The Lungs And The Heart Of The Beast (Heart Attack Mix)' is pretty bad, I'll admit that. Just loud drums, siren sounds, and a way faster tempo. I think 'Heart Attack Mix' is still pretty clever, though.
