The hare and the wolf tiredly climb the steps up to their apartment, both clad in fun, frilly dresses and plenty of ribbons and lace. Their dresses look rather frumpy and sad now that it's the end of the day, though. "It was a mistake getting place on the third floor." Peony laments, out of breath. "Oh, cheer up, man!" Lemon-Meringue says, half playful and half genuinely agitated, "It was the best I could get." The two shamble down the dim hallway, unlocking their apartment, and both collapsing on the couch once inside. "Everything hurts." Peony says, more matter-of-factly than if he was complaining. Peony never really complains. "Heh. Same here." Lemon-Meringue says, "Y'know what'll make us feel better?" She gets up, switching on the television and starting up their shared Dreamcast. Within just a few seconds, she's connected the maraca controllers and booted up some Samba De Amigo. "Yeah, no." Peony laughs. "Come on, man!" "No, I don't think I can stand up right now." "Just use button controls!" Lemon-Meringue tosses Peony a regular Dreamcast controller. The wolf stares at it but doesn't touch it. Suddenly, a series of loud crashes can be heard from outside. Lemon-Meringue freezes mid-song, a few seconds of "Samba De Janiero" playing before she remembers to hit pause. "Hey... What was that...?" She asks. Peony is already pressed against a large window, silently looking out on the city. There are bizarre, twisted, and most importantly very large creatures standing around, pulling apart buildings while showing no emotion. Lemon-Meringue looks out the window, too, before stepping back. "Peony, are you okay?" She asks urgently, her fear making her sound angry. "Yes. I think so." "Well..." The hare taps the wolf on the shoulder, and the two go back to sitting on the couch. They stay very still. "We're in danger." Peony states. "Yes. Yes, we are. What are we going to do?" "We can't go outside," Peony says, "However inside does not seem very safe, either." They hear another explosion. Then a quieter one, perhaps a car crash. Lemon-Meringue snaps out of it, getting to her feet with a groan and turning to face Peony. "What we're going to," She says, "Is avoid panicking!" "And how do you suppose we do that?" "By acting like everything is perfectly fine!" "...What?" "It's simple, really." Lemon-Meringue says, walking over to the television and switching off the Dreamcast, "We're going to watch a bit of television." She grabs the remote from the arm of the couch, switching sources. "Lemon..." "It's better than screaming and running and getting hurt!" Lemon-Meringue shrugs. Peony pauses. "You're right." "I know!" Lemon-Meringue looks through channels casually as Peony sits with his knees to his chest, staring out the window. Even though Lemon-Meringue has always turned up the volume of the television quite a bit (Being a hard-of-hearing hare seems like a bit of an oxymoron, and a good example of aliteration, but it had to happen to someone!) the sounds of panicked news reporters can't block out the sirens and crashes outside. Lemon-Meringue stops on a particular channel. It seems to be live footage of Sonic and his friends, rushing around and doing... Something. Maybe they're helping out some stuck civilians. "Hey, it's the guy! And the other guys!" Lemon-Meringue shouts, pointing at the television screen. It's so sudden and loud that it makes Peony jump. They watch as Tails helps Amy with rescuing an orange goat lady and her two children, who are trapped by a very precarious ledge that drops straight down into a large pool of water. They're able to rescue them after some time, with Tails bringing them to a safer spot and Amy reassuring the little ones that everything's going to be okay. "Watching stuff like this makes me want to help out in some way." Lemon-Meringue says, actually smiling. "Yes. It would be nice if either of us knew how to use a Wispon." Peony says, still a little shaky. After a few more minutes of watching television, the two have settled down much more, now able to hold a somewhat calm conversation, even as the destruction outside gets worse and worse. After all, there is nothing they can do about it. "Have you also noticed a lack of Sonic in this footage?" Lemon-Meringue asks. "Actually... Yes." "Guess he's just too fast to get on video!" "I suppose so." The two can hear a bit of a commotion in the hall; there are people rushing about, yelling and opening doors. The door to Lemon-Meringue and Peony's apartment is then flung open by none other than the blue blur himself. "Oh, woah! It's the guy again!" Lemon-Meringue exclaims, hopping up. "Hey, you could at least say 'Sonic'," Sonic says, shaking his finger at them, "Or 'Mr Needlemouse' if you're feeling funky!" He hands Lemon-Meringue and Peony a Burst Wispon each. "The city's looking pretty dangerous right now," Sonic explains, "So even if you're not up for helping us out, I think you'll be able to put these to good use anyway." Peony and Lemon-Meringue look at each other, before Lemon-Meringue asks, "Where do we start?"
